What are the short and long term impacts on victims of Crime?

In the Law & Order episode we watched on Friday, Harper who is a girl and was a victims of crime. She was sexual assaulted by a man who is around her age. He was married and had kids as well. Harper was traumatized, she called the cops and they put her through hours of questions about the assault, and what happened to her. That made her relive the experience again she is physical and mental hurt from this. She thought if she saw the guy she could identify him if she saw him but should couldn't. After that day she would sleep with runners on because she thought if she had runners on that night she would have been able to run away from him. She was so terrified that she had to move away quit her job and get a new one, break up with her boyfriend, at her new house she had a lot of locks on her door so no one could break in.

If you are a victim of crime you will have short and long term impacts on your life. You could possibly have economic loss, which could be loss of the ability to go to school, have long term stress. You could have fear for the rest of you life thinking it might happen to you again and so you don't go out into public. You isolate yourself from everyone and everything.  They will never live the same life again.

There is a girl in there suing a man for $7 million dollars, for her damages for pain and mental and emotional distress. The 7 million wont fix anything but will help pay for her to go get help like therapy and everything she need to help her get better.

I think we should give more help to those who have been victims of crime.

Why crime happens

I think crime happens because of what they have been through in there past. Or because they were peer presured into doing it, and the enviroment around them."The world is a dangerous place- not because of the people who are evil but because of the people who don't do anything about it."(Albert Einstein)
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Crime/2011/09/20/18716316.html, my theroy explains that crime because the people in the gangs probaly got in them by the enviroment that they grew up in so they think it is right. And no one will something about it cuz they gang members will just end up hurtting that one person or the several people.
